I'm doing my homework and this is what I've found so far, Do you think $900 is a good deal? It's from my local Discount Tire...

I know this is a stupid question, but mud terrain or all terrain? Do you already have the rims, or are you including them in that price?
MTs and I just picked up 15" black RC wheels so this is just for the tires and the mounting/balancing from Discount Tire.

$150 a tire, so thats $750, so your paying $150 for mounting and balancing on 5 tires, thats $30 a tire. Seems a bit high for mounting and balancing. Check and see how much the local tire place is charging just for the tires and see what there rate is for mount and balance then make your decision.

are they including lifetime balancing and hazard warranty. i got 5 Trxus installed with warranty for $800 (33x12.5 R15). I know the BFGs are a little more expensive though.

sounds like a pretty good deal to me. I bought 5 bfg's from 4wheel parts about a year ago and paid like 1050 to have them mounted and balanced. That price also included lug nuts.

Jodi, I recommend a local store, that way if there are issues (balancing, warranty...) you won't have hassles.

That's the online store, there's $80 shipping on a set of 5. ;)
Most local tire places will match a price like that.

Figure 750 + 8% tax (maybe higher or lower in your town) that's $810. So then you're paying $90 mounting, balancing, valve stems, BS shop fee, and the tire disposal fee (basically paying them to get paid to have the tires taken by a used tire place). Maybe a tad high, but you're definately getting a fair deal.

Rims, tires, mount, balance, lugs, caps, EVERYTHING for $900?

Thats' a good deal.

I got 5 BFG MTs on rockcrawler rims, mounted, balanced, shipped (caps, lugs, etc.) for an even $1000 and I thought it was a screaming deal, so $100 less is palin awesome.

I think that is a good price. However, and I am not sure if they will honor this where you are or not, but it may be worth a shot. I recently caught a misprint ad in a magazine (4x4 garage I think) that showed a set of 4 BFG Mud Terrain 33x12.50 15s on Rock Crawler Wheels for $635.00 from 4 Wheel Parts. I called the 800 number and they would not honor the misprint and gave me a price of nine hundred and something. So I took the magazine to my local 4 Wheel Parts Store and they hooked me up.

I got 5 33x12.50 15s BFG Mud Terrains on Rock Crawlers for $924.00 out the door including lug nuts. That comes to about 185 a tire with the wheel. Not bad I thought. So you may want to check that out too.

Just a thought.

Yeah, I like my local Discount Tire and I plan on giving them my buisness if they can give me a decent price.

Ya should check out your loca wholesale place. Like out here, in VA, Sam's Club is cheap for tires, they will ship them to the closest store, and they will do mount and balance.

Seems like an OK deal

I don't know if you bought 4 or 5 tires, however, I just purchased 4 35" BFG Mud Terrains from NTWONLINE and I paid under $1000 for the tires, 4 black rockcrawler wheels, the chrome caps, etc., and that included mounting and balancing. They would have been even cheaper if I lived on the East coast, they had to charge me extra because I live way out in here in California. By the way, we have all of the best trails! Regarding someone talking about 4 Wheel Parts, my friends and I have had mostly problems with our local store. They won't honor other competitor prices and they did a crappy job mounting and balancing my wheels 33" Swampers on my last jeep. I wouldn't send my worst enemy to one of their stores.

Well guys the power of haggling worked today... I took a trip over to NTB with my Discount Tire quote from yesterday of $900 and they agreed to do $151 a tire plus all that other crap which came out to about $815 total with tax. I really don't like NTB and wanted to deal with Discount so I went over to the Discount tire near my office which I mainly use for my Jeep. I showed them NTB's offer and they agreed on $140 a tire plus the $2 a tire gov. fees. :D My final with tax was just under $800 and will be here on Monday.
