Why location is important

Too many people do not have their location in their signitures and then ask for help (can you fix this, do you have that...) or try to sell something. I have found that i will give things or help local people much more than mailing things. For example in the WTB thread someone is looking for a part but does not say where they are (alot of members are not in the US). I am sure hundreds of people have that stock item sitting in their garage but ignore the thread because they do not want to ship things. From personal experience, it gets expensive shipping stock parts and people getting them not paying for shipping like they say they will. It will also help new members find other members in their area. i have sent many PMs to people i did not know because they were local.

just my rant for the day.

x2..agreed
I agree. And, while I'm guilty of not having a very "good" location, I did try to change it for reasons mentioned above.

On the shipping-I got burned years ago by selling some parts that I agreed to pay shipping for as an address in Georgia was listed. Turned out when I shipped them, he was actually stationed in Guam-still part of the US-but being oversize boxes, would have cost ME over twice what I was selling for as I agreed to pay shipping. Thankfully my local Post Office just to happened to recognize the name on the box, happened to know the kids Dad, knew they were military and-you'll never believe this, but charged me flat rate by making some "clerical" oversight to package size. I paid him what I had expected to pay to Georgia, he sent it to Guam. What are the chances of this actually happening, anywhere, ever, let alone in my little town here. Karma. No other explanation for it. I've been VERY careful about if or where I'll ship stuff ever since that ordeal. Thank God for that guy at the post office.

I've also been able to help others around the state for various things when I know where they're at. With parents living in the southern part of the state, my in-laws on the far west side on the island, grandparents on the north side-you could say we cover most of Washington on a trip anywhere. Knowing a location makes it easy for me to stop along the way if I'm headed that direction anyway to help somebody out.

Best of Luck,

Mike

If you call yourself a jeep person and do not know where the factory is then you are not a jeep person :D

I am in a small town in MI between Toledo and Detroit, so more people know where 30 miles north of Toledo is than Brownstown Township MI. :avid:

For some of us, a Jeep is just a tool...a means to an end. I have absolutely no idea where it came from. On the other hand, I know exactly where it has been since. I love it for that! :)
Fine then, I'll fix mine. Now send me that jeep already.
Pay me the 50K and I will send you the stock JK X :D

Wow, how about the culture shock? From NC to in between Toledo and Detroit? I think I'd be home sick for NC after about 3 days.
Actually in the last 11 years I have lived in Montreal, Chicago, Oklahoma City, Greensboro NC, and now the Detroit area.
