What the heck is this thing???

Probably for the compass/temp/auto-dim mirror -- does yours have that option?

I have that also. I heard it's for the heads up windshield display sights if you got the M2 50 cal option. Not available in California.

No, I don’t have these items on my TJ but would think the dimming mirror wires would be over head not in this location. Does the factory temp gauge and compass go on top of the dash?

auto dimming mirror, but there is a write-up in the FAQ section on how to turn it into the 50 cal mod. However, this mod is not available in the communist states of California or Mass.

This option might not fly in California but here in good ol’ red-neck Oklahoma anything goes… Gotta have one of the heads up sights :wink:

If you buy the mirror kit I think it comes with a wire harness that goes to this plug.


Of course in California you can get a flower/tofu tosser which is alright if you are gay and I am not.

Are the mirrors available through a dealership or some other sources? Do they also have a temp gauge? I am not familiar with this option, sounds a bit gimmicky to me. I thought the Rubi was supposed to have everything on them… And I thought Harleys were money pits.

My '05 has that too and the compass/temp mirror is something I kinda wanted from the factory, but didn't get due to the deal I got on my rig. Just couldn't pass it up so I had to overlook a few things-that being one of them. I could be wrong but I THINK the mirror plugs into that plug, then runs up the windshield and over, drops in from the top. All the new upgraded plastic trim panels cover the wiring nicely. I've driven/ridden in several rigs with that auto-dim/temp/compass mirror and it's kinda cool. I haven't wanted it bad enough to spend the money for one yet after 5 years, but maybe some day.

That's where I got my kit but paid $299 about 4 years ago.

It's an easy install but the temp sensor located behind the grill is kind of a bitch to install.

I added the power mirror to my Rubi. Give Dave at davey's jeeps a request, I was happy with the price for mine.

Just ask for the following:

Mirror
Wiring
Temp Sensor
Temp Sensor Bracket

Just in case your wondering about an install.

It is a bit pricey but after 8 years of driving the rig through variable temps and night driving w/ the top down I have to say it's one of the best mods to date. The wiring does indeed plug in on the top of the dash and runs up the wind shield frame and drops down to the mirror... The four items listed
above will be needed.

Is that the MOPAR factory one? The one from Jeepsareus is the factory one that would have come if ordered with vehicle new.

The stuff from Davey's Jeeps are salvaged parts. Just alittle used but that is ok.

I have gotten some stuff from him and its all been ok.

my spare tire is in my way to see out of my rear view[ i'm pretty short though] so i can't see spending the $ for this so i just use the garmin for compass and the wifes temp indicators on her chest for the temp :cheesy:
