In 2005 at camp Jeep I wheeled with guy that had entire AEV Hemi conversion at the time and still had 7/70 factory coverage cause it was taken from dealership to AEV. If I could triple my salary and go back in time that would have been what I had done differently.

Hit 7 years on my 7/70 2 months ago but only have 38K on it. Decided to do the gears finally. I'm hoping the engine will last another 7 at least!

Yea I priced AEV and I gotta believe there are cheaper options for a V-8. I will most likely go rebuilt in any case. I haven't gotten around to researching engines as I want to do tubes, crusher corners, roll cage, gears, and replace lift first. But you know when the engine goes it goes and it will be time to upgrade regardless of where the other mods are at. I saw some threads that said dealer quoted $2500-3000 for repair replacement of cam/lifters. I would think you could find a rebuilt V8 for that much. Might search craigslist next time I am bored.

Anyone know any good threads on here for engine swaps? I tried searching but so far haven't found the right key words.

You can swap in a V8 engine waaaay cheaper than AEV's hemi.

MTDIRK, talk with Bill (wsm04rubi). He's up in your neighborhood and his buddy Jon..who is on here from time to time, swapped in a EFI 350 into his YJ from a suburban for like $900 from a junk yard, motor was perfect. I wheeled with him in Moab and in California and is was a sweet set up that worked really well....minus a little fuel pump issue.

I made it through 5 pages of Project Ramjet tonight. Man that is a pretty engine. I now understand why the AEV is so expensive. Not sure I have the smarts to piece together a project like that.
