Tire Brands You Like 2023

I searched through 25 pages of tire brand info. Most posts were pre 2010.

In 2023, what tire brands do you like? I can no longer get my Goodyear MTR’s.

Falkin tires appeared maybe six years ago and were heavily promoted, aside from that I know very little about them. Norm mentioned the Nittos - those tires were the truest tire I ever ran on my LJ, they needed very little weight to balance.

My plan is to wait as long as I can, hoping for Nittos, but if not, go BFG MTs. Those seem to be consistently available.

By the way, mine are 33x12.50x15. Your size might be in stock.

If that 15" is correct that makes some sense, 15" are getting harder to find.

As of two days ago, the Nitto Trail Grapplers I want are on back order.
I think they were last time I ordered also.

Having done a deeper dive, Mickey Thompson Baja Legend MT tires have a 3 ply sidewall while the Nitto Trail Grapplers have a 2 ply side wall.

I ran a bunch of trails with the Nitto Trail Grapplers and it's a great performer. The only negative thing I can say is the sidewall is quite stiff so I had to air down to about 6 psi, not sure if you could air down that far with a non-beadlock rim.
That’s the type of tire attribute I’m going for John. I admit paranoia for ripping a sidewall. I’ve done it twice. Never with a Goodyear MTR.

I got Yokohama MTs for the Rubi for a great price awhile back when BFG MTs were on backorder, and they are great on the rd (for a MT) and in the GA clay. Can't comment on how they are on rocks.
I had Yokohama Geolander MT G00s for while
They performed great off-road, especially on rocks, but I blew out a sidewall driving down an access road at 15mph on a small rock. It would have been the equivalent of hitting a curb at the same speed.
Definitely no where near as strong as they state on their webpage, and they would not warranty them.
As such, I sold the remaining 4 and now back on Maxxis Creepy Crawlers and am loving life. I know a bunch of people really like the Maxxis Razr MT which is a little more street friendly. Apparently Walmart online has some insane sales on those every once in a while, you just have to catch em at the right time

Today I was picking up a recovery strap at my local supplier and saw Yokohamas for the first time. Your feedback is timely.

my 35/12.5/17 mud grapplers listed for a 8 to 10.5 wheel. I have 17x9s (non beadlock) and go as low as 8 lbs. without ever blown a bead. went for the 9 inch wide just for that reason, so far working.
