I have the Auto trans. Any time I start the car, by default, the automatic
transmission will be in Auto/OD. This is normal. Also meaning that the
light on the dash toggle switch ("OD Off") will NOT be lit.

This means that the Auto trans will shift into OD somewhere around 30 -
40 mph, depending on a few conditions like torque, engine speed, grade,
etc...

Sorry for the long set up. My wish is to have the Auto trans NOT be in OD
by default when I start the car up, every time. Which means that the
light on the dash toggle switch ("OD Off") will be lit.

Any ideas :?:

Not sure why you would want it that way, but anywho, the switch appears to be a normal on-off switch with a latching feature that resets when the power goes off. Replacing it with a standard toggle like the fog light switch used on older TJs should do the trick.

Thanks for the quick reply. I was hoping it could be as easy as this.

I don't see freeway speeds as often where I live, and like the power band
in 3rd gear all the way up until 55 or so. Which, in my opinion, is the only
place OD has business coming on at all. Not 30-40 mph.

Until I re-program the auto all together, this would be a nice stop gap.
