Four down, one to go. Previous owner painted the rings copper, so I had to strip them to paint them black again. Who knew mounting tires on beadlocks was this much fun...
Almost time to get the truss and gears installed

Today I'm installing the new tires so I can take the Jeep to get the gears done on Friday, back went well, but I'm having problems with the front. The caliper is rubbing the edge of the center part of the wheel, I'm at a loss since the wheels came off another JK.
I'm thinking about buying a pair of disc brake wheel spacers as a temporary solution so I'm able to drive to the shop while I find a more permanent solution (big brake kit).
Red dot is where it rubs

I only see one tire installed .... lets see the whole Jeep! Those wheels and tires look good. Maybe one day I'll afford a set of bead lock wheels but that would require me to stop spending money on mountain bikes or buying dirt bikes like I just did ? lol.

No, everything was nice and tight. I went ahead and clearanced the calipers, it will do for now while I get the BBK. I got at least four layers of blue tape between the wheel and the caliper, should be enough.

Finally done, I must have taken the front wheels on and off at least 10 times each to measure for clearance, I swear every time I did they gained about five pounds.

Yesterday I took the Jeep to Letzroll in Phoenix (close to a three hour drive), The Jeep is getting 5:13s, the front axle trussed and HD steering. I thought it would be a great idea to take the bike and ride it back. I enjoyed the ride back, but man, this bike is different from everything I have had. I come form a sport bike background, where you are nicely tucked behind all sorts of fairings. Having the wind pushing against you at 80 mph was certainly a new experience, I need to get a windshield before the ride back.

Hadn't post for a while since there were no updates to report, but last weekend I finally got the winch, front and rear bumpers installed. I also rotated the e-disco and cut off the front crash bar.

I bought a 2016 unlimited Rubicon july last year, I promissed myself I would keep it stock(ish) for a year before I started making any major mods.
The year is almost up so I´m getting ready to tear into it. Most of the mods I have done so far are cosmetic:

  • Mopar JK hardtop headliner, this was a no brainer after getting into the Jeep after work in the 100°+ degree AZ weather and feeling the heat radiating to the top of my head.
  • Rugged Ridge entry guards, honestly, I feel this is something that should be part of the Jeep from the factory, every other car has a door sill, but Jeep insist on leaving the entry bare.
  • Rugged ridge all weather mats, again a no brainer if you expect to keep your Jeep´s carpet clean, my only complaint after a year is the emblems came off, other than that they are working good.
  • Smittybilt neoprene seat covers, I used these on my TJ, the only complaint is the buckles, they broke after a couple months, and I had to replace them. Before I installed them I sprayed 303 fabric protectant on them. This made them completely water repellant.
  • JWspeaker headlights, back in December I drove back to Guadalajara to visit friends and family, a 2100 miles round trip. The JK headlights are subpar, so I decide to make the change before I left. The JWspeaker headlights made a HUGE difference, I have 0 regrets spending $500+ plus dollar on this mod. This is one of those rare occasions where I feel I got more than what I paid for.
  • Rugged Ridge mesh grill, to keep the bugs out of the radiator
  • Rugged Ridge receiver hitch and wiring harness, about half of an OEM and it does the same job
And the one non-cosmetic mod I have done:

  • Artec HD crossmember and underarmor, the only issue I have is if installing the underarmor with the stock suspension the front axle will hit the left support for the oil pan shield
Awesome list of to-do's. I plan on trying to put white vinyl on my hardtop to keep the heat down. But I live in NC so I don't have to deal with 100+ weather.
