Once in a while you come accross a product that is fairly cheap and does exactly what it says it will do. I got to telling a friend on here about it last night over the phone and he prompted me to post it up on here, which for some reason I had not thought of.

Redhead Waterproofer by Bass Pro Shops ($4.99) is one of those products. I first saw this while visiting a BassPro where they did a demo for me. They took a paper towel, sprayed it liberally all over with this stuff and let it dry. They then dunked it totally under water and held it there for a minute or so. When they pulled it out they shook it and handed me the paper towel and it was dry. Just as dry as before! Their site will not let me post a link like I did for their home page up above. But type in "waterproofer" in the search area and it will come right up :confused

I have been using it now since mid October 2010. I got it originally for my outerwears prefilter that slips over my AEM dryflow filter since it does see some minor water intrusion due to my hood louvers. Something that I knew would happen when I did the louver intall. With this stuff treating the prefilter water just runs off with the slightest of movement to ajar the filter. And I have never found any evidence of water intrusion into the intake, but in all fairness I never did to begin with. We aren't talking about a lot of water here.

I have also been using it on some boots of mine that are NOT gore-tex. So far SO Good! I can't tell you how long it lasts, so far I have only treated the prefilter and boots once and they both get used everyday. I would venture to say that it would last easily as long as scotchguard or spray slilicone treatments. I also think it would be FANTASTIC on your front seats if they see and rain. I do imagine though that it would wear quickly on a drivers seat, but no more than any other product I am aware of.

Two things it says specifically on the can: it is Gore-Tex safe (i guess for treating seams) and it is NOT a silicone based product. Why that is important I have no clue.

Give it a shot, I like it!

Thanks for the headsup on this product. You've been using it since Oct 2009 and you just now are telling us about it? :D

OOPPS   I meant 2010. figures, I'm always a day late and a dollar short  Didn't know I was a whole year off! I edited it.

Yea I don't know why, but it never occured to me to post it up on here till me and F9K9 got to talking last night. I must be getting old.
If you spray the entire undercarriage, do you think it would stay clean?
Silicon spray waterproofing?
Mouse: I don't know about that.

John: it says specifically on the can that is contains NO silicone products.
Prob'ly mentions silicone specifically as silicone is pretty well known as death to leather stuff - I'm gonna see if I can find it up here - always on the lookout for a good waterproofer for the bush hat ;0)

The woes of living in a rain forest LOL
Doh! Sorry Eric - I noticed in your original post where you say no silicon  No wonder dear wife always says I don't pay attention.
I could use a red head to keep my passenger seat dry, how much do they run :lildevil:
