I'm looking at ultimately ending up with the RE 3.5 LA kit.

I know the 4.5 LA kit is more popular and sells alot more, and I have
seen specials on the 5.5 kit, since they are less mainstream.

Can anyone tell me what exactly the difference in PARTS between the
3.5 kit, and something like the 5.5 kit? Obviously the springs. But I
am lost after that.

Also assume the kit does NOT include shocks. I would be buying them
separately.

Thanks in advance for your time.

Thanks. What do you think about the pitman arm?
I would not and don't use a pitman arm...Trackbar is all you need.

Thanks. What do you think about the rear sway bar extensions?

Wait. Stop. :| I might as well come clean.

I was looing at stealing a RE LA kit off Ebay that no-one seems to want,
and subbing the springs with 3.5" ones. But I just noticed a small detail
that escaped me. The kit is for the 97-02's and not the '03.
I believe I am sure there is a difference. JUST GREAT!

Thanks all. Just getting my hopes up for nothing over here...

Other than the transfer case skid being different on the 03, I don't think there are any other differences that might make a difference. You will still have to cut off your CA Frame mounts and drill some new holes into the frame, so there might be a partial over lapping of holes due to the year difference, but you could always tack weld those spots or weld in new metal and still get it to work. If it is a good price, go for it and talk to 4x4Mac, he is running what you are looking at. Good luck,

Ken

Thanks for the advice. It was smoking at 1100 this morning when I
posted. It had not moved off that number for the past couple of days.
But has since seen alot of activity in the past couple hours, and is at 1425
already now. I'm keeping an eye on it though.

Thanks again for the real quick responses and your time.

I can try and help until Mac gets here, So far the differences mainly between the 3.5 and 4.5 are in the 4.5 you get adjustable control arms and the 3.5 ya don't. If I'm right (i hope so) most people go with the 4.5 with 3.5 because you get the adj. CA's. I too was loooking hard at teh ebay but, I can order and sub the springs from dealer and ebay I can't. that's the reason I haven't shot for the ebay kit. Plus I don't trust ebay. Still scared of gettin screwed by em.

I think I lost interest when I found out it was a 02' or earlier kit. I know
its a great kit, and might fit, but the prospect of welding or cutting or
adding more metal, with a 2" body lift kind of scares me off some. The
big skid kind of looks like "the" integral part of the whole lift.

Installing just the base LA kit alone presents other challenges, which I am
up for. but beyond that I try to stay away from home grown solutions.

Bye the way, has anyone that installed the LA kit been able to remove
the stock brackets without using a torch? Maybe using a cutting wheel
instead or something? Curious. I read somewhere that torching could
weaken the areas around where the brackets mount.

hi Bill......
the 02 kit is not for the Rubi... tooooo many issues.

i used a sawzall to cut the orig brackets off worked just fine

the 3.5'' kit incules every thing the 4.5'' and the 5.5 '' kits.
including ss brake lines.pitman arm is needed for LA kit
extras are shocks and tera shock re-locators.
the disco`s from RE are junk!!! i used terra and they are the same as JKS.
no cutting torch is necc... grinding wheel and sawzall will git the job done.

kits are the same cost..... no matter what size.
the 3.5'' spring is now getting more popular....

On Friday I was told everything was in stock for my 4.5" SF SA kit with 3.5" Kit coils to ship. I am expecting it to be here any day now.

I have never owned such a capable rock crawler as this will give me. I guess I better learn how to drive now. But man I am starting to get excited about it!!!!!!
