On 1/3 I took some time in the morning to walk around the Lost Burrow Mine and up onto a ridge behind the cabin. I got a good view into Race Track Valley from an angle that you don't see too often. Then I left Hidden Valley and drove into Race Track Valley; the Race Track Dry Lake wasn't so dry so I decided not to walk out to the Grandstand rock formation. The South end of the playa was dry enough to walk on so I got some pictures of the sliding rocks, a phenomena that remained a mystery for years. I included a picture of the exhibit with the explanation. I went on to the far South end of the Valley and walked around the Lippencott Lead Mine.
That is where a 4x4 road drops into the Saline Valley but, as already noted, there was no way out due to snow.

Great trip! I live in LA, Orange County area. Let me know if you ever want a trip buddy.
Hey Norminator,
I'm in Oceanside.
Death Valley season will be over soon but next time I go I'll let you know.
It's almost time to stay more to the West - Eastern Sierras, White Mtns., Inyo Mtns.
