MCAI and California?

I should find out where I'm getting stationed at next week (moving in the late spring). I'm looking for orders to Camp Pendleton or 29 Palms preferably.

Anyone stationed there that has the MCAI run into any problems?

NJ copied the CARB word for word from CA and I passed inspection.
I just moved out here and suggest since your mil. I would keep your VA tags thats what i do reg in NC when and if the time comes I'll register my junk in AZ. pm me when you get settled tons of phenomenal wheeln
Can't you keep you state's plates and just keep up with registration?

While I was stationed in NY I kept my PA plates and just kept the stickers for registration up. I did not have to get it inspected until I was back in PA(which I never did for 4.5 yrs  ), just needed the upated reg to get on post.
I plan on keeping the tags on the Jeep from NC. I remembered when I was out there before that even though I had Maryland plates on a truck, I still had to get it California inspected to get base stickers. I just wanted to make sure. When Mac originally designed it, he just rerouted the intake still using the original filter and added another. If it comes down to it, that's what I'll talk to the guy about. I'm hoping it shouldn't be a problem.
Get a stock setup, and put it on for the inspection. I kept my stock stuff for that reason. let me know if you need a stock setup, I have 2 and only need one.
Thanks Mike. I still have it packed away in one of the moving boxes still.
technically the new setup still uses the stock filter, it's just for the cabin air filtering....so the argument could be made that it's not a different setup lol
In southern California, they don't have any kind of safety inspections. The only inspections they require are smog, and that goes county by county. Where I lived in Imperial County, they only required a smog inspection whenever you bought a car.

Please 'splain. I don't understand what you're saying here. To my knowledge the MCAI does not have an Executive Order (EO) exemption number that can be verified by Smog Check stations, BAR Referee stations, or by the ARB.

I slap my old AirAid system (it does have an EO) back on for SMOG inspections.

NJ implemented the CARB rules a few years back and I did not have a problem passing inspection. I doubt that the inspector knew what he was looking at.

Oh, okay. "NJ" equals New Jersey. Didn't catch on. I'm kinda slow like that.
