Anyone know of a hoop step that can be used when road driving but then easily removed with pins(?) for offroad and re-installed.

There are some frame mounted rocker guards that are also a step. I run the jeeperman ones on buth my Rubis. http://www.jeeperman.com/
Poison Spyder also has frame mounted rocker guards with steps: their Ricochet Rockers.
How about a stirrup? Flop out when needed and you're done.

Along the stirrup line, I've seen where people have passed a piece of chain thru a pipe about 6" long then bolted both ends of the chain to the tub under the door. When it hits something, the assembly just moves out of the way.
I saw one on a friend of a friends 97 jeep back in 97 or 98 and was made out of thick bent tubing that slid into a mount bolted to the frame, it looked very heavy duty. I asked the guy about it and he said it had been discontinued. If I recall it had a rubber step plate which read "Warn'(I think)?, I thought about getting one back then, but I lost interest.

That's exactly what I'm looking for! Guess I'll have to find someone to fab one for me.
