Highline Vs. Hood latch

I only know of one other person that has the Highline kit and had a problem with hood latches breaking. I am fully devoted to the kit and very pleased. The following pictures will explain what I discovered and the interesting fix that has been surprisingly dependable. Excuse the dirt. I just got back from Moab and now it's raining. Do you have any suggestions? I'm not in any hurry because the hood remains secure as if the latches were unbroken. Zip ties originally entered into this as a trail fix.

havent' seen that one yet lol.... if that ridge is the problem then it's got to go. pull the latch section off the hood and file it down then remount. of course if the new latch setup comes with that part then don't waste your time on the old one and mod the new one.
I just went the easy way with hood pins. But if theres an obvious ridge cutting it, see if you can smooth it off.
I guess I'm thinking as you both are. I put this same post on the AEV site.

which shocked me when i saw it....i figured you'd just use self tapping screws to hold the hood down and keep a drill in the heep :rotflmao:
I wonder if this would help with the rubbing issue

could you put/glue a heavy piece of rubber on the back side of the hood latch's strap?

it's bling and all but i see the stainless lanyard flapping in the wind and wearing a hole in the paint. and if you have the turnbuckle snugged down so the hood is held tight then the pin would be a pain to remove and reinstall.

I thought about that too. Good option. We'll see. I'm just lazy enough to do nothing right now. :grinyes:
