Waiting impatiently for UPS to deliver the lower parts kit. Ordered a brass punch set so I don't mar the lower terribly.
I am also thinking of the other lower, I am thinking 30 cal. I'll have to wait till PSA has a good sale on an upper.
Use some blue tape to protect the surface finish when you are punching in the roll pins.

All done except an upper. With this lower all I used was a plastic mallet, a couple of allen wrenches, and a razor knife, and the armorers wrench. It was fairly easy, the only part that even came close to causing trouble was the front takedown detent spring pin, this is where the razor knife was used to hold down the spring and detent, so you could slide the pin in. Also, first time jitters, which now looking back were unwarranted since the job was easy.

It's a pretty easy thing. I also fret about a spring popping out and then I can't find it, but I've never had that happen.

I too am waiting on my upper. I am like a kid 3 days before Christmas. It's killing me.

I know the feeling, I'm having heart palpitations. LOL

I guess ATF is saying now, remove brace, destroy, or dispose of, and make the buffer tube to where a brace cannot be installed.
I've been looking for a plain buffer tube, the only one I can find are ones for rifles with an A2 stock.

Looking at triggers. I've always used mil-spec triggers, the ones that came with the firearm.
What do you all use in your AR, single stage or two?
PSA has their own triggers, affordable drop ins. I may replace the trigger in my Sig AR also. I'm comfortable with mil-spec, it's what I trained on, and what I've always used.

My favorite trigger is a 2-stage giessele, but I have no problem with the mil spec either

Nice Job Mark! PSA has enhanced triggers (or something like that) which are quite good - well defined wall and a crisp break, I think they are around 50 bucks or so. If you want to spend around ~$100, you can get a good drop-in trigger which I much prefer nowadays. If you want a name brand trigger (Timmey, etc) that will cost you about $150-350.

I'm going to wait for at least 30 days to see how the various lawsuits play out as far as the ATF's brace grab.

I like the trend of using screws instead of pins for the build kits.
I have a single stage trigger on mine which is about 4-4.5lb pull and has a pretty short reset.

Question: What kind of sighting system can you put on an AR pistol that would be legal under the probable upcoming ATF new rules. I know iron sights which are typically on a rifle are out.
What about red/green dots, lasers, and flip up sights.

Anything that would work with it being held one handed and did not need eye relief. So iron sights, lasers and red dots should be ok. The problem is, with how it is worded, you have to remember you initially are at the mercy of the ATF and any idiot minions that would actually enforce this. Since they can't understand
Shall Not be Infringed
Be prepared for them to not be able to interpret something they wrote either.

The brace ruling basically says if you have a brace on a 'pistol' (AR, AK, etc and a barrel length < 16") you must either A) remove it or B) register it on a Form 1 as a short barrel rifle. As far as I know, what sight you place on your "pistol" is a don't care as far as the ATF is concerned. You either have a SBR or don't. Note: this is not legal advice but my interpretation of events.

However expect several legal challenges beginning on 1 Feb, the day after the ruling effective date of 31 January.

My preference is a holo or red dot - red dots are much cheaper and serve you well for ranges up to 100 yards (maybe 200 yards) depending on your eyesight.
