IIRC, it's an hour. JC, Gegert12, or Mac would know for sure, or use the search function to find the appropriate post/thread.

We set it to 6 hours for editing, we made this change many months ago (a year ago?) If anybody needs a post edited after the time expired, any one of the mods will be glad to help with that.
While this might seem obtuse, it heads off any future problems with posts being later edited that can disrupt the flow of a thread. Sometimes people will get the red-butt over something and delete all of their posts which is a disservice to the community. I would say most if not all major forums have some kind of edit policy in place. Sorry if this is an inconvenience but it's really best for the community.
If everybody thinks this should be set to 12 or even 24 hours, we can certainly consider the change.

No, it's just that I have this intense dislike for spelling & grammar mistakes on forums. Then I go back and find a typo in one of my posts, then can't fix it. No big deal, I was just curious.
The only other forum I frequent, Tacoma World, has no such limitation.

I'm with you about spelling and grammar errors - I can't stand them. Thank goodness my Firefox browser has a spell check or it would appear like I didn't get past 6th grade. Even if you need a minor edit like that, no worries - just let us know.
Would increasing the edit time to say 12 hours make this situation better for you?

I edit often, usually within an hour, if I have a second thought.
But editing or deleting way later after there have been replies can corrupt the flow of the thread.
I've seen that in other forums and it sucks! They try and make you look like the ass.

going back to our beginnings edits were limited
zero reason to change.
there was a brief period when edits were allowed for a longer time and the software was changed
now its back to the way it used to be.
6 hours is the time.

As for editing dumb grammar and spelling mistakes, just check what you wrote before hitting the "post/submit" button. Easy solution. Yeah, like I do that every time. Ha, Ha.

And we should be somewhat tolerable to grammar and spelling, unles it gits komplitly owt ov kontral.
