Duratrac wear question

2260 Views 13 Replies 11 Participants Last post by  Topless Rubi
So I need new tires, I settled on the Duratracs because they are price friendly and still retain the agressive look I want. I'm thinking of running a 265/75/16 with a 1.75 BB load range C. Or might keep the stock size as I spend about 99% of the time on the highway.

Only concern is I haven't found any reports on how they wear, and what mileage they get. Any one have any reports on that?

Thanks

I just bought a set of 33x1250r15's about 4 hours ago. They are awesome and ride so much better than the worn out crap that was on it when i bought it in august. I absolutely love them and I hope we can get around 40k plus miles out of them probably more if i rotate. these tires could possibly last me 6 to 8 years... We will see.
stock '04 rubi, 66k miles on original mtr's, replaced them with 265 / 75 r16 load e dura-tracs december 4th...mpg since new on original tires, just over 16...mpg, now after (3) fill-ups, just over 14...with never setting the crusie above 65, i'm surprised to be down 2 mpg

i know the bigger tires have me going slightly faster (speedo reported spped) but hoping the reason is more goodyear went light on the air pressure and once i correct, milage sees some improvement! bummed that the milage has dropped but have no regrets on my tire choose or size.

come summer, 2" lift to get the jeep looking a little more proportional and a new rear bumper so that the upsized spare doesn't have to continue resting on the factory bumper.
I have them on my 09 CC 4x4. I Love them! I have only had them on for 6k miles but I have been impressed with their wet handling and on road manners in wet or dry conditions. I will say they are SOFT. You need to make sure you rotate as often as the MTr's!

They look like they havent worn at bit.
i put some on my rubicon before my mtr's and sold them to a buddy with a rubicon. total they had 25000 miles on them and they werent half tread yet not even close. I wouldnt hesitate to buy them again, and i might after i get tired of the MTR's.
My studded Bighorns Maxxis tires are wore out, gonna try a set of 315 75R 16 studded... E load range so I'm thinking if I take good care of them I should be able to make them last a long time as they will see no off road time only winter time.

Calling Tirerack in the morning hoping they have a set somewhere down in the Reno area available. :fadein:

Do you realize the new 265 are a taller tire and your speedo will turn slower. Thats why the lower mpg. noobie!

That must be how the manufacturers meet the cafe ratings......
It also runs you out of your warranty faster when the speed reads faster. :D
I've got a set of 285/75-16s and I will agree that they are soft. Steering is really squirmy compared to the MT/Rs. They are great on wet/slushy/snowy roads though!

the number of posts here (noobie) has no measure on real world knowledge...yes i realize they are bigger tires hence the reported lower mpg...as for noobie i owned a cj7 when they were still making them and have been driving a cj / yj / tj ever since, what about you?
wow he has 27 more posts than you so he must be real smart (based on pirate logic) :D
