We had a two foot snow here this week. I just noticed a hose hanging. I think it is a vent hose for the front Diff. I blew in it and got the taste of gear oil back. It has a metal clip on it, but i don't know what it is supposed to clip on to or where the hose is supposed to route to. right now i have it clipped onto and stuck inside the frame rail. so two questions. 1) where does it rout and clip 2) why doesn't the rear diff have a comparable vent hose?

My front axle vent tube runs up the driver's side of the radiator and is bolted to the shroud at the top.

The rear on my 05 comes up in the vicinity of the gas filler cap and there is another behind the center of the engine on the firewall. That is either the transmission or transfer case, I don’t remember off hand which.

Dan is right, up along the driver side shock tower. Breather hose, ABS line, Brake Line from Left to right.

^ that. It runs up just to the top of the shock tower.
The rear is in the passenger wheel well behind the fender liner. It's held on, barely, with a plastic clip.

Easy to extend with a bit of fuel hose.
