I have noticed a thunk sound at low speeds when i touch the brake peddel, sounds alomost like the caoper is loose (on the front passenger side). Checked the caliper and it is tight any other suggestions?

Check you control arms and see if any are loose and what Mac said.

Talking about brakes, does anyone else think that the Brakes o the Rubi's are a bit stiff? for a 4-disc brake system, you gotta press down the brake really hard to stop it. And even then it doesn't stop very good. Could this be because of the biger tires? or perhaps I need to get this checked?

Today I took the top down for the first time ohyea!

brakes on a TJ are .....hmmmmmmm not the greatest.
if you have never had a pucker feeling trying to stop on a wet street.
you are in for a TREAT!
might find a wet empty parking lot... try a few panic stops.

im kinda used to the brakes had 33'' tires on my other jeeps so its
brake before ya really have to.. kinda ease into them.
the air pressure is also a factor.... i run 28psi on mine
i like more rubber on the road ..downside makes it harder to stop.

BTW the stock MTR`s are heavy..tars.

I know the brakes aren't state of the art, but my 95YJ 4 banger with 110,000 miles with original drum rear/disk front brakes on 30" BFG's stoped better than my Rubi.

So was just wondering if its because of the bigger tires and/or the added weight of the 6-banger.

and I had the PUCKER feeling just the other day. :) yes it was a treat!

YES!
the Rubi weighs a lot more pounds then your 4 banger YJ .
i had the 4.0 in my 92 YJ with 33'' BFG`s.. brakes sucked.
Wheels n Rims also weigh more then your 30'' BFG`s..
so enjoy the pucker factor!
