Hi everyone,

Just got a 2006 LJR. I am very excited to have a jeep again. This one has a 100k on the 4.0. Auto. A short arm RE lift with only lower control arms. Uppers are still stock. Not sure on lift height or really anything else about the jeep. Sitting on 35s which rub bad full lock on turns. I will be using it for moderate and mild trail use. This is my weekend toy and run the kids around for fun. I will post some pics when I have some worthy of the forum. One of it sitting in my garage isnt.

Cheers everyone.

The generic issue with the 06 is the OPDA. It is not uncommon to find an 06 with your kind miles that are still running and have the stock OPDA that is ready to fail.
Remove and inspect the oil pump drive (OPDA) then use your inspection tool to examine the cam gear to verify no excessive wear. Look at the OPDA and verify it was made by Crown or Dorman. If the OPDA is stock Mopar part replace it with a Crown. Now days you can buy a fiber optic attachment for your phone for a very low price to allow inspection in dark places like the cam gear. Several hundred comments and instructions on how to do the above. If you want to have help avoid the dealer, and find a knowledgeable Jeep specialist or an owner that had been thru the whole deal.
Examples for the 06: Mine failed at 8200 miles , Buddy failed at 9000 miles, Son in law failed at 80000 miles. The first two were saved with a Crown replacement. The son in law chose a new motor. He could have just done the cam and OPDA, but he just bought a long block (bad choice).

Welcome. Based on the OPDA comments, I would go over the vehicle and replace stock parts like bushings.

PWMAC its been a bit since Ihave been on and I am still figuring out how this forum works. Thank you for the advice. I had the factory opda and just ordered a new one. Everything sounds good on the jeep so im hopeful there is no issue with the cam.
Thanks again for your help
