'04-'06 Unlimited Soft Top Boot - Window Storage Questions

1244 Views 4 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  bugdewde
I just installed my new soft top (used 1 month) ..... I hope to keep this one more than 5 years.

Is there a soft top boot specifically for the Unlimited?
How about a window storage bag for the longer Unlimited windows?
Any homemade stuff out there?

I hope to keep this new one in better shape than the original one.... which after 5 years, it has shrunken and is tearing apart.
It has been kept outside for 5 years and I occasionally spray tire foam on it as a protectant...... but I think either it isn't the best thing for vinyl or I just haven't protected it enough.

Using the search function for soft top protectant, I see some recommendations for:
-- RaggTop protectant
-- as well as the Bestop stuff..... any others?

I'm also thinking about a full Jeep cover, since the Jeep stays outside 24/7. Got any recommendations for a good UV resistant Jeep cover?

I use the Clover Patch Window Roll and my LJ windows fit. I wish I would have bought one earlier.
I bought one from a guy off craigslist, brand new!
It's made by Mopar! Made specially for the Lj!
I will get the model number and some pics soon!
Shouldn't be that much!$$$

I second the recommendation for the clover patch window roll for storing windows and taking them with you. I bought my window roll back when my LJ Rubicon was new in December 2004 and my windows still look nearly new. I always carry a plant spray bottle filled with water and a clean towel and always wipe the dust off the windows before removing them. Never wipe them when they are dry and you will have no scratches for years to come.

I also carry a window bag for the soft door uppers. The bag I have doesn't have a liner so I wrap them up in sheets of felt before inserting them in the window bag when I take them off. After 5 years, the upper door windows also look nearly new.

Thanks for the tip Dave..... I carry a damp microfiber towel in a sandwich baggie on my motorcycle to clean the plexiglass windshield. Maybe this would be adequate for the LJ windows, but would probably need the spray bottle to re-wet/cleanse the rag.

Didn't know MOPAR had a boot for the LJ....... cool.
