Wildrat | The rebuilt caliper is installed, and working when I drove. Fingers crossed. LOL |

Wildrat | I don't know why people don't rebuild their calipers. It is so easy. It took me about a half hour and that was with an old caliper, cleaning it, and my usual slow, meticulous working methodology. LOL The hardest part is getting the old piston out, and it's not difficult. When The sun comes up and warms things up I'll go out and change the caliper out. |

My brake fiasco is not over yet. I drove to Lowe's and Walmart this morning. My left rear is dragging now. All I did was change the rotor and put new pads on this position. I guess when It cools and I feel like it, I will pull the tire, and the caliper, and rebuild it since I have the parts to do it. This is nuts! A plain jane brake system giving this much trouble. |

Wildrat | Hopefully, I am done with this. If it had not been for you and your friend at NAPA this likely would have gone on for a while. Summer=Dragging, Winter=Everything works fine. |

I got around to changing the rotors and found another problem with the brakes. It appears the right rear had dragged in the past. It also appears I only had one working rear brake. I have a new piston and seals, but could not get the piston out. I guess the extreme heat caused the phenolic piston to swell and stay locked in place. I screwed with it for a while, then said I'll just order a new caliper from Rock Auto. So the rotors are changed, just need to install the new caliper when it arrives and bleed the brakes. UPDATE: I was ratting around in the shop and looked at my collection of old calipers. Low and behold one of them was a brand new right rear. It's installed, bled, and test drove. It feels weird coming to a smooth stop, instead of a pulsating stop from warped rotors. Rock Auto caliper is cancelled! |

aeroshots | Good news on the brakes. My buddy at Napa will be glad to hear. He is so much more than just a parts guy. He retires in January after being in the parts business since a teenager in his dad's store. |
