Sounds like the Mopar manuals are better than other factory manuals, especially if there are ďnarrativeĒ sections that can be studied. I donít bother with aftermarket manuals - youíre right they are generally crap.

Whatís the best source for them (besides dealer)? Nothing on Amazon and most Iím finding online either are bootleg PDFs or look suspicious.

It's been 16 years since I got mine but I'm pretty sure I got it from MOPAR Tech Authority....

Some other folks here may know other reliable vendors. I'm sure my searches wouldn't yield any more than yours.

Back then they offered hard copy "real" books but I don't see them any more, just CD's or downloads. I like my books because I'm old and like to flip through pages, don't like having a computer in the garage and can stick post-its with notes all over in it.

Here's a few pics of the size the product was for the 2004 Wrangler Factory Service Manual. It was the best damn thing I ever bought!

Thanks! I too prefer hard copy. Trying to fiddle with an iPad while your hands are greasy is not a good thing. And Iíve found the hard way that iPads and 1/2Ē drive long handled socket wrenches donít get along well...

Edit...

Whoops, looks like printed copies arenít available. Argh. This is a deal killer for me; I donít have a windows PC.

If I couldn't get a hardcopy manual like I have, I'd be so tempted to download the digital copy, take it to Kinkos and have a book made.

They call this digital age progress, but for some things, I disagree.

^^ Roger that ^^ I just printed the 176 page advanced manual for my new Icom IC-9700 ham radio. You can't beat a hard copy for some situations.

I haven't calculated the cost per page but it's minimal for our HP laser all-in-one printer. It will print on both sides without user intervention.

Sometimes I'll just print a few pages of interest.
