Iron Rock HD Over Knuckle Steering

I was curious to see or know if anyone is running this or have heard or seen anything on the HD Over Knuckle Sterring set-up. I'm looking to upgrade this winter/spring and I'm considering this over the Currie steering set-up and wanted to get some input.

It looks really strong, and having the stabilizer above the axle is a good idea. But spherical rod ends with no seals or boots are going to have to be replaced regularly because of sand abrasion.

Yea true would probably have to keep it bathed in bearing/chasis grease.

But already have to do that with my Johnny Joints in the CA's, greasing them on regular basis.
Hmmmm might have to look into that sterring set-up.

The only other thing I can think of for the Currie one is that, the Tie Rod Ends would be available thru most automotive store if needed replacing or breakage.

I like this setup, just like the RK setup, I would be afraid it would bind on droop though.

2006 Rubi unlimited 6spd, 36" TSL's, power plant winch, 6" Nth degree lift, 4.88's, alloy axles all around, TnT tube fenders, Gen-right cage, and lots of skid plates with rock rash.

I like it too, but it is a little different than the RK set up I have. With this set up I can see a possibility (depending on the angle limitations) for binding. I know with my RK set up, the drag link is behind the tie rod, and commected by a larger hiem joint that is positioned adjacent to the heim on the passenger side. It swivels as much as it needs to just like the tie rod's heim joints.

The Currie ends are proprietary and only available from Currie for ~$50 However the kit is one of the best IMO.

Hmmm might have to do some looking around between the (3)
Currie, RK & Ironrock steering, since all are about the same price.

I like the looks of it and am not afraid of rod ends, decent quality ones will last a pretty good long time if you hit them with CorrosionX or WD40 once in a while and wipe them clean.

The only thing I don't like is that frame end mount. I think the big cast factory piece works well for the factory suspension and tires, but when you're running 35's and placing all the stress back into that single, cantilevered point, it makes me a bit nervous.

On the flip side, they do keep the rod end pretty close to the cast piece, unlike RE that uses a much longer bolt. So the "moment arm" is reduced a little, but you've still got about 6" of casting between the rod end and the frame, and I have seen photos of the castings broken at the frame welds.

I finally upgraded to an RK track bar and am much happier having additional bracing as well as the bolt at the axle end mounted horizontally, which secures both ends of it and eliminates flex. My steering is much tighter now, it has noticeably less play before the wheels start turning (and I did have a new rod end on the RE). I attribute it to the bolt flex on the RE that is now eliminated.
