Thanks that's helpful. I wasn't looking on the forum, but makes sense. I've definitely seen mac posting around here. :P

I saw that one, unfortunately my prediction is that it won't be short enough. The windshield washer arm (I think) swings down in-front of the filter, and it already gets pretty close. 4 1/4 inch might be the longest I would be willing to try, but I wasn't able to find one of them.

That was Mac's product which he sold to an undisclosed person(s.) Apparently one of the sale conditions was non-disclosure about the new owner(s) and product, so Mac can't talk.

I also wanted to stop oiling the K&N filter and I found some posting on another forum that used some Spectre products but I basically hacked up a elbow and installed this AEM filter.

You need to modify the cover for the heater fan intake due to the length of the AEM filter.

Would you be willing to post a photo or two of the modification that you did?

I will try and remember to take some pictures tonight. I have a new pre-filter cover to install on the air filter.

Here are the pictures. the first one shows the filter and the replacement piece I have over the stock HVAC intake shield.

The second is the filter and my attempt to connect to the MCAI cowl piece, need to start over and get a better exhaust pipe expander to see if I can get it to slip on more.

Third shows how much you would need to possibly trim from the factory HVAC intake shield to use the same filter as me. Also shows the pre-filter sock on the filter.

Best part it clears the wiper linkage.
