Found this under the dash

First time posting, but have learned lots from you all.
Anyway was doing some minor work and popped the top of the dash off and found this cable going to no where, anybody have an idea of what it’s for? Thanks John

My guess having been down there in my own TJ is some type of stereo pigtail. Is your stereo aftermarket? Maybe the manufacturer of the radio had an installation harness to cover multiple applications and in your case it's not used. Or maybe to speakers?

It doesn't matter who you are until you are whom you are supposed to be.

I actually considered that, but I had no such animal in that place and I have the compass/mirror.

That is the wiring for the compass/temp/self dimming mirror. All the wiring is in place from the factory regardless whether it came with it or not. You'll even find the connection for the temp sensor in front of the radiator on the driver side. My '04 had the standard mirror and I ordered the compass/temp/self dimming mirror and installed it.

Maybe mine is tucked away. I have an 04:with the gadget mirror. Not challenging you.
