I'm thinking resistor but I'm second guessing myself on the switch.
Imagine the lowest resistor setting blew and now it's running off the next resistor setting . regardless of switch position. Does that make any sense?
Any experience with this?

Recap: Low speed setting blows at second speed level. All other settings good.
That's what mine did. Bought a replacement resistor at NAPA for $19 and it's all good. Been about 4 years since mine went bad.
