Was at the Jeep store last Sat. Spent time looking at JLs and JKs.

I think the drivers seat can be modified to make me fit in a JL, but it would still be tight. I don't know whether I could get low enogh however, to get my head below the rollbar. I think I am too tall.

Looked at a JK,and that would be closer. My head still hits the rollbar, but it is not above the rollbar as on the JL. The JK rollbar is also a different shape and would be easier to get below. Just don't know if I would be happy when it was done.

Might go back to a TJ....just don't know what's going to happen yet.

I guess I'll know when it smacks me up the side of the head!

Garage
Check this company, they make seat brackets to provide additional room, there are some comments in the forums saying the JK brackets not only provide more rear room but also lower the seat a bit, maybe worth a look:

On my TJ I was having issues with head in the bars. Took the ds seat mounts and cut 2” out of the middle and welded back together. I know that some folks got the flip forward set up on both sides. Mine came with the solid style on the driver side an flip on passenger side.

Does the JL or JK come with a solid mount or is it multi functional? If is solid you might have an option to work with. Other option would be to make a custom mount.

Best Regards,

Patrick
