New Lift, Cant Get It Dialed In
My build has started for the new Jk and after installing the lift, I just cant seem to get the thing dialed in. I installed AEV/ Nth 4.5" springs and JKS Upper and Lower control arms, JKS front and rear adjustable trackbars, Currie trackbar braces front and rear, Teraflex Speedbumps and all the rest of the needed hardware, sitting on BFG KM2's. The issue is, I cant seem to find a specific measurement to start with for the JKS control arms. I went with Teraflex's suggested starting measurements for the same size lift and it pushed the front axle so far forward that the front sway bar was rubbing on the springs. So, I just set them at what seemed to visually be corect for clearence and proper pinion angle. Now, the lower arms are only 5/8" longer than the stock lower arms, which is almost an inch less than what was suggested by Teraflex. Whats more, the pinion angle seems to be less than what I have found to be desired. I cant suck-in the lowers too much more to raise the pinion angle because then they would be almost at stock length. I also cant push out the uppers much or they will force the sway bar to hit the springs. I cant figure this JK beast out. Especially since the traction control keeps coming on on certain corners. I have had it aligned and was told that it was within specs as far as toe, caster, ect... Any pics of ront ends with stock sway bars would be appreciated.

My apoligies, I'm not really sure what you're asking.......I can try and get some photos up tomorrow evening of the front end with the stock sway bar. I used the entire Nth 4.5 kit and don't have all the fancy adjustable control arms and stuff though. Now by traction control, are you talking about the ESP light? I thought I was having "traction control" trouble lights as well, but it's the misleading ESP steering wheel alignment light. The dealer or the AEV procal module will allow you to set the steering wheel straight. I recommned you pick up a Procal, they do soooo many cool things with the computer without having to visit the dealership.

I have a few issues and would like to know what length people's control arms are that are running a similar lift. ( adjustable control arms). Also, would like to know what degree of caster as well as pinion angles front and rear. It's at a Mod friendly dealership right now and they are going to look it over, and hopefully give me an idea of whats going on. I'm curious about all the available settings on the procal?

Re: New Lift, Cant Get It Dialed In
Adjustable control arms, can't help you there, sorry. Here's a run down of all the features of the ProCal from AEV's site......
AEV's ProCal Module is a hand-held powerhouse! This essential tool provides JK owners an easy, low-cost way to make a variety of useful changes not offered by the dealer or any other re-programmer. Topping the list is the ability to correct the speedometer and gear ratio when larger tires are installed. With the speedometer left uncorrected, there is a major degradation in the performance of the stability control (ESP), transmission shifting, and engine performance.
The best part of the ProCal is that it isn’t just for correcting the speedometer. The Tire Pressure Monitoring System can now be recalibrated to better suit aftermarket tires without triggering the dash light. Further, the ProCal Module makes it possible to activate daytime running lamps, "one-touch" turn signals, enable a temporarily increased engine idle speed for winching, clear engine codes, and even has a feature to help align the vehicle perfectly for optimal ESP performance.
The ProCal Module is equipped with a series of easy-to-use DIP switches. By reading the simple Quick Reference Guide included with the ProCal module, a user can quickly dial in a code for the desired recalibration. Once the DIP switches are set, simply plug the Module into the vehicle's OBDII. The whole process can be completed in mere minutes and it's just as easy to restore the vehicle back to its original settings with the ProCal.
•Large tire recalibration (Restores the vehicle's speedometer/odometer accuracy following the installation of larger-than-stock tires) •Axle gear ratio recalibration (Resets automatic transmission shift points to maximize the benefits of an axle gear ratio change) •Tire Pressure Monitoring System recalibration Note: Lowering a vehicle's tire pressure below that specified by the vehicle/tire manufacturer may create unsafe handling characteristics. AEV assumes no responsibility for a vehicle's handling characteristics or the safety of the vehicle's occupants. •Daytime running lamp activation/deactivation, and lamp location selection •One-touch turn signal activation/deactivation •Engine idle speed options (Improves winch performance and battery charging capabilities by temporarily increasing engine idle RPM) •Steering wheel centering (Provides for spot-on steering alignment) •Clears Engine Diagnostic Codes

Re: New Lift, Cant Get It Dialed In
Update: Got it back from the dealership and was told that the caster was way out. He also adjusted the yaw setting way down. After the mechanic adjusted it, and test drove it, he told me that he only got the traction control to come on if he went into an overly hard turn. I got in it and, of course, first right hand turn it comes on. I really don't want to turn the ESP all the way off but it looks like I may have to. The thing is, I have friends with full coilovered rigs with d60's and 40's with mo traction control issues.????????

Sorry to hear that. I'm tracking down my own ESP issues as well. Going to spend some time on it this next week and let you know what I come up with.

Re: New Lift, Cant Get It Dialed In
most ppl dial in the TF lower control arms to 23.0 drivers and 23 1/8 passenger. I don't have the uppers, so I can't comment.

Re: New Lift, Cant Get It Dialed In
What if you just set the front uppers to stock length, and lengthen the lowers to get the proper caster. If you want to push the axle forward at all from that point, just equally lengthen all the arms.
I also installed the complete AEV kit and haven't had any problems even when thrown around hard on the street. Does the currie trackbar brace raise the axle mount and did you get a high steer kit?
