Post Mopar Water Pump Procurement
I am looking for a new MOPAR water pump and gasket for a 2006 Unlimited Rubicon. What is the cheapest place you have seen for purchasing one of these units?

Any special reason for wanting to run a mopar? Other places come with a lifetime warranty and are cheaper.

FWIW... i replaced mine (2004 model) with a NAPA unit, I don't remember the price though but generally their parts run cheaper than most OEM suppliers. I personally do not "push" certain NAPA parts, but this part looks and has been a good one. It have been on the jeep for one year and had presented zero issues. Also when I compared it to my OEM 2004 water pump, they were EXACTLY alike in every way I could find.

If your dead set on OEM, I would either check out Mopar Parts America or see about what jdemonto might be able to scare up for you at his place.

What I do NOT recommend is one of those fancy FlowKooler pumps. The buisness was a PITA to deal with in my experience and I was not very impressed with their pump from a physical, in hand inspection.

No reason at all. I just see that many times people just say to replace these type of items with OME parts. I'm not sure why I was thinking an OEM replacement was best as most everything under my jeep is an aftermarket item.

My experience with lifetime warranties mean you replace the part every year for the rest of your life!

Seriously, I have had my fair share of Autozone/checker water pumps and AC compressors.

X2 Starters and alternators right up in there along with the pumps/compressors on the "lifetime" special...

I try to stay OE with things of this nature. Seem to hold up/last longer in the long run.

Best of Luck,

Mike

I've shopped at both Airpark and rock auto, BOTH places sell fine quality parts @ reasonable prices , for an east coaster the shipping can get a lil' steep tho.

Best of luck.

For what it's worth, I replaced my pump and stat when I had to replace the condenser in my 06. The pump had a slight seep so I figured it was a good time to get it done as well as installing a trans cooler up front. I picked up the parts at a local store but did not compare them to what I took out before buttoning everything back up. My temps have been erratic, generally higher, since. I started researching high flow pumps and discovered from Hesco that the OME is high flow. I'm sure based on what I paid for the replacement, it wasn't a high flow that went back in. I've ordered a new one as well as a good stat and high flow housing from them a will have to do it all over again. So it seems that the proper replacement pump should cost you at least $100; from Hesco $120. I hope my stupidity will save someone else the aggravation of doing things twice.

I think your right. They are $120 online. They said they are EXACTLY the same as the OEM. The napa one was also.

Wow water pump replacement already. What is the average mileage/years they last? I smell a little antifreeze coming from under my hood, so I best check mine. I replaced my wife's in her Grand at 105K miles with a NAPA unit, we have 160K on it now, no problems.

What about those hi flow units? Don't know much about them. They claim more water circulation.

My water pump lasted about 75k. I replaced it through the local auto parts store I like. As far as I know it was a stock replacement and not a higher flow model. I did compare the new with the original and the new one looked better made. I can't remember who manufatured it. It's been working fine.
